John Franchi is a Venture Partner at Andromeda Ventures and a former senior executive of the Central Intelligence Agency, retiring after 29 years of distinguished service. During his career, he held numerous senior leadership roles both internationally and in Washington, D.C., working closely with the U.S. military and the U.S. Department of State.
John’s assignments took him extensively throughout the Middle East and Africa, with significant experience in Europe. A fluent Arabist, he developed deep expertise in geopolitical and transnational issues related to the Middle East, Islam, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, cyber, and complex regional security dynamics. Throughout his career, he led and oversaw all facets of intelligence and operational activity, interfacing regularly with senior U.S. and foreign government officials as well as private-sector leaders.
Since leaving government service, John has founded two strategic consulting firms supporting clients across the United States, the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, and Africa. His work includes strategic advisory services for corporations and high-net-worth individuals, risk assessment and mitigation, deal sourcing, and development support for domestic and international clients. He also serves on the boards of several companies and foundations focused on national security, education, and cybersecurity.
