Daniel Fata is an Operating Partner at Andromeda Ventures with nearly three decades of senior experience across U.S. national security policy, defense industry leadership, and dual-use technology investing. He has held senior roles in Congress, the Department of Defense, and at Lockheed Martin, advising Cabinet officials, Secretaries of Defense, senior military leaders, and Fortune 500 executives on defense policy, government engagement, and strategic growth.


Dan began his career in Congress, serving as Policy Director for National Security and Trade for Representative Christopher Cox and Senator Jon Kyl while they chaired the Republican Policy Committees in the House and Senate. In those roles, he worked directly on defense, intelligence, and trade policy at the highest legislative levels. He later served as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, where he was a principal advisor to two Secretaries of Defense and led U.S. defense policy engagement across NATO, Europe, Russia, and Eurasia.


In the private sector, Dan held senior leadership roles at Lockheed Martin, including Vice President for Government Affairs and Vice President for Policy and Strategy Engagement. He led executive-branch engagement with the White House and Department of Defense, managed defense acquisition and budget strategy, supported Lockheed Martin Ventures, and oversaw strategic relationships with major industry associations and policy institutions. Earlier, as Vice President at The Cohen Group, he advised Fortune 500 companies on defense, aerospace, intelligence, nuclear energy, and international government affairs.


Today, Dan is President of Fata Advisory, LLC and serves on the advisory or fiduciary boards of multiple dual-use and defense-relevant technology companies. He has invested in or holds equity in more than two dozen startups spanning AI, energy, drones and counter-UAS, space transportation, advanced manufacturing, and hypersonics. He is also a Senior Advisor (Non-Resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and was appointed by U.S. Senate leadership to serve as a Commissioner on the congressionally mandated Afghanistan War Commission. Dan holds degrees from the University of Connecticut and Boston University and received an Honorary Doctor of Laws in 2024.
